As musicians, one thing each of us wanted to do was go on tour. It didn’t matter whether it was for weeks at a time or just a few days, just as long as we were on the road. This past week let us live that dream, and damn, it was sweet.
We planned a three night musical extravaganza with Kansas City, MO locals Auternus. The first night was on Auternus’ territory: The Record Bar. It’s well known for being the go-to spot for amazing shows, so naturally we were ecstatic to take the stage. We played our hearts out and were blindsided at how well received we were.
The second night took us to Warrensburg, MO, a smallish college town outside of Kansas City. Being a smaller venue where neither Auternus nor us have ever performed we didn’t know what to expect, even after our success the night before. Even with all of our insecurities after our set we were mobbed by new found fans. It was a great and truly unique experience.
Not only was this our first tour, but the final night also gave us our first headlining gig at The Sydney back in our home base: Omaha. Auternus played an awesome opening set followed by our friends and Lincoln musical wizards Masses. We played as hard as ever receiving glowing reviews from everyone, even those who have seen us time and time again.
We’re addicted. We crave touring like zombies crave brains.
We’ve been working hard here in Omaha, now it’s time for us to get out and share our music with the rest of the world.

This week’s City Weekly features us, the lovable bunch of whimsical instrumentalists. For those of you who haven’t picked one up yet (or physically can’t), you can read the full article on the City Weekly’s website. But be careful, it’s ripe with in-depth band information and poop jokes.
Thank you Will Simmons, Dale Heise and everyone at the City Weekly who made this interview a reality, our gratitude for you knows no bounds.

We’ve been together for some time now and as this whirlwind year comes to a close we’ve asked ourselves, “how are we gonna top this year?” We’ve released an EP, opened for national acts (Russian Circles, Eagle *Seagull, Little Brazil, Paria, etc), been featured in a documentary, played huge venues (Slowdown main stage, Bourbon Theater), interviewed for articles, etc etc. So, how do we top all that? For the first time ever we’re hitting the road.
That’s right! Everyone has been patiently waiting for us to rock their city and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do. In fact, we at least want to hit every major city in the Midwest and everything in-between. I’m talking Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, St Louis, Milwaukee, Denver… the list goes on.
On top of all the touring we’re gonna be camping out in the studio again. This time we’re aiming to record and release a full-length by mid-year.
This year was great, but next year is gonna be off the charts.

Tim

Dustin
Back in August we choked back tears as we said farewell to our bassist, Tim. His life is taking him in tons of exciting directions. We’re all happy for him and wish him the best.
Since then Dustin, from Paria, has been learning the a-team ropes to fill in for our October shows. He’s a fantastic person and we couldn’t have asked for a better bassist (we still miss you Tim). Could this be the start of something awesome? Perhaps a new direction for our music in general?

Eagle *Seagull, those Lincolnites signed to the Starbucks record label, headlined this benefit show for the DailyER Nebraskan. The DailyER is the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s only satirical newspaper and we agreed to help them out by donating all our show procedes towards their publication and distribution costs.
Our close friends, Honey & Darling, also played as well as a touring act from Seattle, Might Tiger. All in all, it was a great show that raised over $1000 for the DailyER.
There was a surprise cameo by Roger Lewis from The Good Life on the turntables, DJing between each set. Roger is such an awesome dude, he deserves a high-five everywhere he goes.

Even though the original headliners, Free Moral Agents, dropped at the last moment the show still went on! Just so happens that we three remaining acts we’re all instrumental.
The Machete Archive was wonderful, as usual, and we have always enjoyed playing with them. However, they encountered some terrible amp difficulties towards the end of their set and had to stop early. Who knew that the smell of a fried amp could fill that entire theater so quickly?
Masses were the big stunners of the evening. They’re a recent addition to the Lincoln music scene so everyone was excited to see them. Let’s just say they delivered, on a scale no one had expected. We’re super excited to play with them again in the future.
It was a great show as a great new venue. Can’t wait to play there again soon!

Well, Free Moral Agents are postponing their tour and this means that we won’t be performing with them on August 10th. But, it’s not all lost. We’ll still be at the Bourbon Theater on the 10th with The Machete Archive and Masses. Ticket prices are also dropping to a measly $3.
Three bucks!
Sooo, now you have the opportunity to witness an epic show at an amazing venue for less than the cost of a cup of coffee. If you don’t show up then don’t be surprised when we taunt you with “square”, “lame-o”, “penny-pincher”, “dork”, “egghead”… well, you get the idea.

As Tim McMahon from Lazy-i.com puts it, we’ve snuck in under the radar. We’re making such an impact that we were asked to play alongside Free Moral Agents at the Bourbon Theater!
Who are Free Moral Agents and why is this so monumental, you ask? Well, Free Moral Agents is the brainchild of Isaiah Ikey Owens, Grammy Award-winning keyboardist for The Mars Volta & De Facto.
This is going to be our biggest show to date and we’re so excited that words can’t really convey our sentiments. Basically, we’re all smiles.
